Master Constantin Colibaba

Master Constantin Colibaba, representative of the famous Colibaba family of potters from Rădăuți. Potters from father to son, they have been working on the wheel since the beginning of the 19th century. But the one who perfected the craft, especially by revaluing Kuty ceramics, was Constantin Colibaba. This type of pottery spread in Austrian Bukovina from the town of Kuty, in the Ceremuș Valley, in today's Ukraine, and is unmistakable thanks to the four colors used - white, yellow, green and brown, representing the four seasons.
This photo, emblematic for the potters of Bukovina, belongs to Ferdinand Michitovici.
